Place of mine
Dashboard
We built a dashboard for property managers to add and edit their listings, leads, and create new ads.
Listings page
When you drill into the listings tile you can create new posts from scratch or import from other services.
Place of mine markers
A technical, and visual, overhaul of how we showed listings on the map.
Problem: Every apartment looks the same
but the cost of rent varies greatly from place to place
Map markers used to work like this…
Dozens of raster images, non-HDPI, using an image for each state and kind of marker
In other words…
It wasn't scalable or efficient.
We wanted to give the user glanceable information
Save the user time and effort while finding an apartment by displaying the price of the apartment upfront. Saving people from endless and needless clicking.
Solution: Switching to CSS-generated markers
More interactive using fewer images, and natively Retina-ready. This lead to faster load times and a more dynamic view of what's going on in the map. Additionally, this allowed the team to rapidly iterate on what we show and when, without lots and lots of manual image generation.
